It's Christmas Time

On the 25th December, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the last holiday of the year. During Christmas time as a family, we do lot of things together. Streets will start to be decorated with lights to bring around the Christmas Spirit.

At the beginning of December, we start decorating our house with lights, stockings and finally the Christmas tree. We put the elf on the shelf and leave cookies and carrots for Santa and Rudolph. We put the crib and the statue of baby Jesus. It takes a long time to find a suitable gift for everyone. We also play games when giving gifts: the Elephant and Secret Santa. We prepare early so that we can play these games.

During Christmas time there are many sweets and food which we can eat. We prepare the Christmas log for the Christmas dinner, sugar cane and chocolate cake, the turkey and finally the pudding. On Christmas eve we go to church for the traditional Christmas mass. I enjoy it because there is usually a pageant of the birth of baby Jesus. After mass we drink hot chocolate and prepare the cookies for Santa under the tree. We wait for Santa to come and give us what we have asked for if we were incredibly nice and sometimes even try to catch him on video.

On Christmas day, we eagerly open the presents found under the Christmas tree and have lunch. During this time, families meet and also donate to charities. We also visit relatives during the holidays and since we have more free time we have time to think more about those in need. I love Christmas because everyone has a good time.
