Junior Leadership Team Minutes

By Janet (Secretary)

You may have noticed that we hav changed our name. After a discussion on the way to a Democracy Assembly today, we decided we wanted to change our name to reflect the role we have in school so have decided on the Junior Leadership Team as we lead our classes in decisions and by example. We also put suggestions forward to the School Leadership Team on improvements and changes to the school for example how to make playtimes more enjoyable, how to make packed lunches healthier and also we help to decide on the new lunch menu each term.

The Junior Leadership Team has had a very busy week, with three

different meetings.

On Tuesday we counted the votes for the Democracy lunch we are

holding next Wednesday to tie in with the General Election. The whole

school voted for which pizza topping they would like. The most popular

pizza topping was BBQ Chicken followed by Ham and Pineapple. The Junior

Leadership Team counted up all the votes for their class and recorded

them on a sheet. We needed to count the votes up so that Caterlink would

know which pizzas to create and also so that we could see which pizza

toppings were the most popular.

On Friday, the Junior Leadership Team went to visit St. John Vianney

Catholic School near Turnpike Lane. We were invited to join them for a

Democracy Assembly hosted by their London Citizens Team. The children

from across the school informed us about the General Election, before

putting on a short drama about voting. There was even a rap and a song written by students.

The children then gave us a tour of their school. It was a very

interesting and informative morning. We hope to be able to

invite the children from the London Citzens Team back to

Holy Trinity soon to visit.

Lastly , this week we judged the healthy pack lunch box competition that has been running. It was a hard choice because there were some very creative entries. There were also lots of 3D pack lunch boxes. The lunch boxes were very colourful and healthy. We picked both the runners up and the winners from each phase group and also a winner of the 3D boxes. Watch the Junior Leadership Board for the results!

The Junior Leadership team then decided on a Healthy Lunch Box Charter

which includes the following...

- Becoming a Water Only School

- There must be at least one piece of fruit every day

- No crisps, Sweets or Chocolate

- A balanced lunchbox including all major food groups
