Q. Why did you decide to be a music teacher?

A. I've always liked music and when I was younger in school I played the recorder and it rapidly became the most favourite thing that I did. Then I went to secondary school, in those days it was only O levels and I've always enjoyed my music, I used to be in choirs so I wanted to give that back. Also I had a very good music teacher in sixth form and she made such a difference to all of our lives and I wanted to be like her.

Q. What is your favourite hobby and why do you like it?

A. Music is a big part of my life so I've got choir on a Monday night less so now but I'm going to try and get back into it because I've gone from working full time to working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but I play the flute in small little chamber groups. My husband and I have always had a boat, small and leaky but it's a boat and we go out and do various boating activities I also like cooking very much.

Q. If you weren't a teacher what job would you have chosen?

A. When I was in sixth form I wanted to do social work or something, however now a days I might be a vicar because I'm Church of England. So I think that's what I would do.

Q. Do you enjoy being a teacher and why?

A. I love it, absoloutly love it. I like it because you get to see the progress of the children. For example, the year two children are learning the recorder and when they walked into the room they couldn't play a piece and when they walked out half an hour later they could play it beautifully, it's seeing that happen.

Q. Who was your role-model when you were younger and who is your role-model now?

A. We didn't have role-models in quite the same way as you do, my mums friend was a teacher and she was just inspirational. She was an art teacher and when we went to her house she had loads of interesting things. We did finger painting, brush painting, rubbings and she always had lots of things for us to do. Now, now a days there are some very good teachers I deeply admire. I've also got a good, favourite actress, her name is Nicola Walker. There was a very good programme called "Spooks" and she was in that and she's in a programme called "Unforgotten". I just think everything she does she does incredibly well.
