We have been learning about scarcity.

I will tell you the meaning of scarcity. Scarcity is where you have a limited amount of something, for example a shelf in a supermarket which only has two items instead of lots. This means that you have less choice when you want to buy something, which will then encourage you to purchase something quicker than you might have done. Please see example picture below:

We played a shape game which was about not having enough of something. There were two groups that had two pairs of scissors, two pencils, one compass, one ruler and five counters. Another group had one pencil, one scissors, three counters and a ruler. The remaining two groups had one pencil and about five sheets of paper and one counter.

The aim of the game is to get the most points so you had to make a ten centimetre square, a circle and a counter. The ten centimetre square was worth ten points and then the other two were worth five points. The team with the most points are the winners.

Right at the end we read a story called 'Justenuf' and they had everything they needed until the whole world got sick and then they were fighting over the food and we said the children should go first, then the workers, and people in there twenties and forties and then the older people.
