We first see Ms Eliot in Chapter 1 where we get the impression that she is extremely strict on and complacent with Charles parenting of Sophie. She doesn't like the fact that Sophie isn't neat and that she wears boys clothes. She is very nostalgic because she is very old fashioned and she yearns to return back to old-fashioned times. ' I may be old-fashioned but I think buttons do matter.' In my opinion I don't agree with most of her views as Sophie is allowed to wear what she wants and be who she wants to be but she realy should be cleaner. Sophie shouldn't look at Ms Eliot as a motherly figure, I know I wouldn't.
