Book review of Fing by David Walliams.

In this book, there is a girl called Myrtle who always wants more and nothing is ever enough. If her parents didn't get her something that she wanted she would be horrible to them or cry the house down and everything would shake and smash from her crying.

One day, she said that she wanted a Fing. Her parents, who were librarians, went to the library to try and find out what a Fing was, but they couldn't find any books about a Fing so they went down to the vaults of the library. A few minutes later, they found a book on mythical creatures and decided that if it wasn't in there then they would just have to put up with Myrtle crying and screaming. After looking through the majority of the book they turned over a page and saw a mythical creature called a Fing that lives in the deepest darkest jungle in Brazil. Mr Meek (Myrtles dad) offered to go and get her one.

They ran home and started to pack for his journey into the wilderness (the deepest darkest jungle). When they were finished, all he had was a packed lunch and a spare set of clothes. Her parents realised that it was time to go and pick up Myrtle from school. Sadly for them, her parents had to carry her all the way home because she refused to walk. To lure the fing to where he could be captured Mr Meek had to take lots of custard creams. Myrtle was really rude to her Dad when he was leaving for the deepest darkest jungle.

When her father set off on his dangerous voyage, he did not prepare for the jungle properly. After his first few moments in the deepest darkest jungle, her dad found a cave with a man in it who had a Fing. Mr Meek wondered if he could have it so he could take it back to his daughter. But when he got it off the man he did not realise how sharp it's teeth were that were sinking deeper and deeper into his arm. Whilst he was at home, he read in the monsterpedia that if you blow into a Fing's bottom then it will blow up like a hot air balloon. Then to deflate it you just need to squeeze it.

Luckily for Mr Meek, he had enough puff in him to get the Fing to lift up so he could try and fly all the way home from the deepest darkest jungle( Brazil). When he left South America, he flew across to Africa and then to France and eventually England. When they were flying over London they nearly hit the Shard. Eventually, he saw his town, then his street, then his house. Unfortunately, he then made a very bad decision and crushed the Fing so all the air came out and then they were just helplessly falling out the sky like rain.

He didn't land on the roof of his house. Instead he fell straight through it and took the bath with him. When he landed on the floor of the living room Myrtle says "hello Dad" like he hasn't just came through the rough or anything. Her Mum heard her speaking to someone so she came in to take a look to see who it was and she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw her husband for the first time in a year. When they had finished hugging he gave his daughter the Fing and she just said" I don't want another one. I already have one and all it does is roll around all day!". On hearing this, her father went from excited to absolutely fuming.

I really liked this book and thought that it would be a good read for children from about eight to ten. This book has a lot of action packed chapters with lots of humour and adventure throughout the whole book. I would rate it a solid 8\10 because of the funny jokes and the adventure into the deepest darkest jungle.Personally I rather it to the first worlds worst children book because Fing is a real page turner and for me the 1st worlds worst children book wasn't as good.
