The dentist is surely the most dreadful place in the medical world. With all the drills and fillings and polishing equipment, you just can't get away from something so painful. First, they numb your teeth so they 'think' you won't feel anything; this is a series of stings around the tooth but placed at the gum. But obviously, they are wrong, because when they plunge the deadly sharp drills into the decay, the nerves behind the rotten tooth are irritated, causing excruciating hurtfulness. Furthermore, suction is needed to evacuate the remains of drilled tooth, so the nerve is blasted with freezing air. But I can tell you, it gets worse. They scrape away the aftermath of drilling with a different, pesky instrument, double sided and sharp. This also punctures the nerve, leaving a droning sensitivity inside your tooth. They finally ask you to open wide, and they place the filling into the space, covering up the nerve; then it's bite and the operation is done. Not so bad? Try it in real.
