The growls of the large canine echoed from behind us, the noise was terrifying but Betty managed to stay calm. It slowly crept closer, so close I could scarcely dare to breathe. Suddenly, the dog erupted in a series of ferocious barks. Soon Betty's mask slipped and she gave me a nervous glance. Then we ran. My heart was beating so fast I could hear it in my ears, I thought it might explode. I had begun to lose any hope of escaping the dog. Despite my feelings, the dog eventually seemed to lose our trail. We had finally escaped the dog, for now.
