Lighthouse Blackout

Last Friday at 10pm, whilst the people of Rocky Island were eating and drinking through the night, danger loomed when the light of the nearby lighthouse went out! The lighthouse has been there for many years and this catastrophic event has never happened before. The lighthouse, which is hundreds of years old, stands near to the dangerous rocky coastline of the amazing island.

The lonley old lighthouse keeper was sitting in his old lighthouse office reading when the light went out."I was absolutly petrified when the light went out as it had never happened in 30 years of me being a lighthouse keeper," said Chris Thomas, the light house keeper.Chris Thomas rushed upstairs to where the bulb was but tripped over in the process and smashe the bulb into pieces!

"When I heard the smash I was terrified it was so scary," said Gary Smith one of the towns folk.

Several minutes after the light had gone out large passenger boat began approaching the lighthouse. There had been no other light exept from the lighthouse as the moon had not been out, so the ship had no light other than headlamps when the light went out! "I was terrified I started honking my horn to get someones attention !" exclaimed the captain of the large boat.

luckily, the towns folk rushed to help the distressed lighthouse keeper in this matter of life or death situation. They helped him by taking bright shining lanterns and standing around the edge of the lighthouse on the rocks and on the outdoor stairs of the lighthouse. The lamps acted like a beacon of and helped guide the passing ship passed the dangerous rocks of the tall lighthouse.

Barbara kings a towns person said "I felt like a rel hero when I helped the lighthouse keeper I am so proud of myself and everyone in the village for working together and pulling through."

The towns people and the lighthouse keeper are now very good friends and get on very well. The lighthouse keeper now spends very little time in the lighthouse and more time in the flat that he has now brought on the Island!
