Dear Kitty,

Dad has been keeping something from me. I am too curious. I know he is hiding something because Dad keeps ensuring me that I am worrying about nothing when he is also trembling with fear.

But I've found now, as I have clambered into a secret annexe and someone locked it from the outside. We were going into hiding! It was worse a tsunami erupting on us. I don't know if we will live. Dad says it was all called by a German man named Hitler, because he hates Jews and we are Jews!

"Devastated, I had to live in this secret annexe. Quietly, even silently is the way we have to live. Amsterdam, a lovely place to be except if you are in hiding." These were the words I sent to my freind in the letter I was writing to her today.

The way we have to live right now makes me feel emotionless. Not much space for 8 people. Me, Dad, Mum, Margot, Hermann van Pels, Auguste van Pels, Peter van Pels and Fritz Pleffer.

I've got to say farewell now, its time for bed.

From,

Anne
