Today i will be blogging about how hats have become what they are now. Hats are used in many different ways such as protecting us, giving us that extra bit of style, to keep us safe and they can also surport people through their lives.
Hats come in all shapes and sizes. The first beanie hat was created in the usa in 1978. They finally came to britain at around 1990! The beanie hat is a seamed wooly hat with normaly a small amount of pattern. Hats that are made to keep us safe have gradully improved through the years. Safety was not as important as it is today as how it was in the 1900s. In thoughs times, safety hats (helmets) were just a lether hat with goggles and ear flaps. where as now they are quite hard and dont cover our ears so we can hear to keep us safe if we are around cars and busy roads.
Where as woolly hats are to keep us warm in cold weather. Some of this kind have fleece inside because some people are allergic to wool and can make them itchy. The woolly hats were invented in the 1970s, just before the beanie hat! They came to England in the 1980s and have developed fashion and trends throught many years. But this type of hat covers our ears so the keep warm and don't get frost bite!
