  • She stopped working for NASA in 1987 and started teaching at the University of California.
  • She also became the director of the California Space Institute at the University of California.
  • Sally K Ride Impact Site is a spot on the Moon which is named after her.


  • She received the Jefferson Award for Public Service, the von Braun Award, and the Theodore Roosevelt Award, NASA Space Flight Medal.
  • Sally was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame and the Astronaut Hall of Fame.
  • Sally flew on the space shuttle Challenger twice. She was one of the seven crew members.
