Chapter 7: The revenge of Woose Brain

Bill and Bob look at the wreck aghast. How could anyone have survived this explosion?

They climb down the building and run to what would have been City Hall. They prise open the door but nothing is behind it.  It’s a shell of a building.  They head over to the room that held the Catatopic machine.  The machine is completely broken to smithereens and liquid is all over the ground.

Bill and Bob look round - in a pile of rubble they notice that its starting to move. Sox starts to appear.  The boys shout ‘Sox’ and run over to him.

They give him a hug.  ‘Well done, you’ve destroyed the machine!’ A voice says from behind them. They turn round to see Sargent Rupert standing there.

‘How did you survive?’ the boys question. ‘I was down in the secret lab when the Catatopic machine was destroyed.  The lab is fitted with a steel coating for bomb protection’ he smiles.

‘I…’ starts Sox, but his speech is cut short as the boys and Sargent Rupert are grabbed from behind. ‘Got you now! Time for my revenge!’ says Woose Brain.

Woose Brain starts climbing the rubble and hoisting himself above the steel building frames.  As they

reach the top of the building they can see that people, police and the fire engines are starting to gather outside. ‘Time for my revenge on you!’ yells Woose Brain.

‘Not on my watch!!’ thunders a voice from behind. Sox had chased them to the top.  He grabs his grappling hook and shoots it at the boys. 

The hook wraps around the boys and Sargent Rupert, pulling them to him.  With stealth like agility – that

only a cat could poses he jumps at Woose Brain making him loose his footing and tackling him over the edge of the building.

Sox is quick to fire his grappling hook so it hooks into the building, leaving Sox hanging to the building while Woose Brain falls landing straight onto the police car.

The boys run over to the edge of the building, they are relieved to see that Sox is hanging there. They help Sox up.

‘Where’s President Claw though?’ says Bill.  They all start climbing down towards the ruins of the Catatopic machine.  Lying on the ground is Presidents Claws lab coat and goggles.

Bob walks over to the lab coat, its soaked with the liquid from the Catatopic machine.  Lying under the coat is a black kitten with white paws soaked and shivering, mewing quietly.  Cautiously Bob picks up the kitten ‘President Claw?’ Everyone looks at each other. ‘It must have been the Catatopic liquid, when the machine exploded the liquid landed over President Claw turning him back into a kitten.’ ‘Mew’ the kitten mournfully said almost in agreement. Sargent Rupert takes the kitten and tucks it into his pocket so only its head can be seen.

‘What will you do now? Where will you go?’ The boys enquire.

‘We will use the ruins to extend our lab so that we can make it into a secret agent head quarters.’

Out of his other pocket Sargent Rupert pulls out two watches, both with silver domes over them. 

He hands them to the boys. ‘What are these for?’ Asks Bill. ‘You are part of our team now. This is how we can communicate. To contact you, the silver dome will slide open and a hologram of one of us will appear.’

Sox hands the boys two silver briefcases.  Inside are the boys clothes.  Feels like a lifetime since they had them on.‘Life is never going to be the same, is it?’
