Islington Outdoor Athletics

Ashmount athletes made the trip to Parliament Hill Fields for the annual athletics event for Islington schools. The children competed in a variety of events, ranging from individual to team relays, in track and field. As expected the competition was fierce, with some extremely competitive events.

Olajuwon and Rufus both made it into the 80m final, where Rufus came a very credible third behind two boys who were amazingly quick for their ages. Latisha also made it into the final for the 80m but sadly failed to finish in the top three.

Lucy yet again showed her stamina, coming second in a very gruelling 800m race and Hannah picked up Bronze in the cricket ball throw.

The hard luck story of the day was that of young Stephane. The year 4 speedster, blitzed his 60m race, but was very harshly disqualified for running out of lane, however it was not all sad news for him, as along with Charlie G, Adam and Kayvon the quartet picked up bronze in the boys shuttle relay.

All our relay teams qualified for the finals but there were no more medals.

Squad :- Adam, Zak, Ephraim, Olajuwon, Rufus, Charlie G, Alex, Jordan, Stephane, Kayvon, Duah, Lucy, Emily, Ideal, Latisha, Salma, Gulcin, Hannah, Molly and Millie.

Silver and Bronze medals for Lucy and Rufus.
