L.O. To understand how to write a character description.

The book known as 'Number the Stars' by Lois Lowry is no ordinary book as we have been learning about World War 2 (Danish perspective) and this one book will not be treated as a classic book...

A certain character - Annemarie - is one of the oldest out of three girls, including Ellen and Kirsti, but Ellen is also the same 10 year old - in age. In chapters 3 - 5, we get the message that the Jewish are being targeted by Nazi Soldiers and other kinds of Nazis. This is when tables turned. Immediately upon notice, Annemarie - with her smart mind - figures out that Ellen and the Rosens are Jewish. In conclusion to that, Peter visited in chapter 3 and helped out the Rosens by hiding them while Ellen was with Annemarie, Kirsti and the Johansens. Chapter 4 to now, Ellen has successfully played the role of Lise, almost being caught by Kirsti in Chapter 6. Annemarie worries for her friends and family showing she worries a bit.

Then it comes to Annemarie's speed, Annemarie in chapter 1, came second in her, race outdistanced by one of her classmates. This qoute shows evidence; ' I'm going to win the girls race this week. I was second last week.' Later in the story, when Peter arrives into the story, it is announced by Annemarie that she won the race. She was so fast when she was racing Ellen, her hair flew up into the air. With the speed, she has the potential to run away from the Nazis - if she is caught doing a crime to them.

In my opinion, she doesn't have such of an intermediate brain but an emotive heart and brain. Even harshly stopping in front of Nazis as her blood turned to ice, oblivious little Kirsti approaches. As they are face to face in the situation she wasn't as selfish enough to give up and ditch but to protect both Ellen and Kirsti. Throughout the scene they had a conversation with the Germans but never fled. This means no matter how mean, she protects all.

Finally for the last thing. Bravery is a key trait of hers. In chapter 5, soilders visited to see if Rosens were hiding. Ellen had something on that lets people know you're Jewish, around her neck. The soldiers were in the house but she decided to yank Ellen's necklace off. And that was the evidence of bravery.

Altogether, she is a great character.
