Richard was born in 1452, the 4th son of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd

Duke of York.

King Edward IV was his older brother.

He was King of England from 1483 to 1485, the last monarch

from the House of York.

He seized the throne from his young nephew, Edward V.

He may have murdered his nephews!

He was killed in the battle of Bosworth Field in 1485 fighting Henry

Tudor's army.

He was the last English king to die in battle.

He was succeeded by the first Tudor king, Henry VII.

He is the subject of Shakespeare's play "Richard III".

His remains were discovered in Leicester in 2012.
