Walshingham House

On the 30th of April until the 1st May 2015, Year 5 travelled to Walshingham House for a religious retreat.

The three different worshops in the morning were:

Blind Bartimaus game

Meditation

The Interactive Quiz

The Blind Bartimaus game included a blindfold, a leader (who was Jesus) and some obstacles. After Sean (a youth leader) read the scripture of Blind Bartimaus, we started to play. The leader in this case was Jamie and he had to lead us through the challenging obstacles. We had to crawl under brooms, climb over chairs, duck under string and be squirted with water sprayers. Although it was challenging we worked as a team and eventually got through it.At the end we were all exausted and and some people were soaked by Jamie and Sean (like me).

Firstly we entered the red carpeted chapel. My group and I each gathered an armful of pillows to get comfortable on. Before long, Jordan called out some relaxtation tips that we used to get in the most calm and peaceful position and feeling. Next, we closed our eyes as we listened to a piece of scripture and we were told to imagine that we were in the story. I could feel the presence of Jesus and I could watch the whole story happening right in front of my eyes. In the 30 minutes I layed in the sun lit chapel the meditation had taken me to a whole different place.

Sean (one of the youth leaders) got an empty cereal box. Fortunatly, he stated that it was a flexibility challenge, therefore I was feeling confident! I was feeling curious, but excited! The challenge was to bend down (without your hands, arms, elbows, legs or knees touching the ground!) and bite the top of an empty ceral box and then also stand up again. Every time you and your opponents (in my instance, Ricky and Ryan) successfully did this, Sean ripped off a strip. Ryan fell arpound halfway and it got to a pont when it was aflat piece of card. Ricky and I both stilll bit it. We both tied in 1st place.
