OUR OLYMPIAN GUEST.

Today, Monday 12th March 2018, we noticed that there was someone new in school. At first I had no clue who it was, but then we were all informed that she was an Olympian and had won a bronze and gold medal. In assembly, it wasn't what we usually did because right in front of us was... Kate Richardson- Walsh! If you didn't know Kate is known for playing hockey world wide. She was the captain of her team and they worked well as a team. She mentioned that she had met almost all of her best friends at the Olympics- including her wife Helen Richardson- Walsh. She was a very inspirational person as she had so many motivating quotes I lost count! Here are some of the quotes: Reach for the moon, because if you fall you'll still land on the stars, you can't do better than your best and dream big, because in the end it will be worth it. She also told us that she didn't even think that dreaming to be an Olympian would be worth it, when she was younger. But she proved herself wrong when she became 12.

in the Olympics.

So, after that, we were so lucky because we were one of the two classes that got chosen to play hockey with her. The other class was year 3. In P.E, Kate tought us different techniques and ways to dribble. She tought us how to do a straight dribble and an Indian dribble and the v dribble, which is the type of dribble that you would probably use as a defense sort of dribble to stop the other team from getting the ball. We also played some really fun games like: races and a game when you a a chicken and the hockey balls were your eggs so you had to get them inside of your nest and the team with the most balls in their nest won. I was on the yellow team and we tied 1-1.The other team was green.
