Holi



Holi is a popular ancient Hindu festival from India it is one of the major festivals of Hindu.



it is mostly celebrated in India but it’s also celebrated in parts of Asia.



Holi is celebrated in March and lasts for 2 days.



Holi marks the arrival of spring Hindu’s believe spring is full of colour and for this case it’s known as the festival of colours.



people put lots of bright coloured powder over themselves to celebrate the victory of good over evil in the honour of the Hindu god Vishnu and to celebrate fertility and love.



Each Colour has a meaning:-

Red is for love and fertility,

Yellow is the colour of Tumeric a powder from India and is used in cooking and as a remedy,

Blue is for the Hindu god Krishna,

Green is for new Beginnings.



some of the foods eaten at the festival are Papri chat, Saffron rice and Lentils and Coconut Milk.
