Sir Robert Charlton

I am inspired by this man because in 1958 he was

in a air crash after playing a football in Munich.

He was extremely lucky to survive 23 people

sadly died.Him and goalkeeper Harry

Gregg were the only people to survive the crash.

Even after the accident he still, even now has a

passion and love for the game.

His football career

In his career Sir Bobby Charlton scored 249 goals

in 758 appearances.(He would of scored more

goals but because of the accident he had to stop

his career their

).He had never lost his control on

pitch.Throughout his career he never got sent off

and his one and only league booking was subsequently rescinded when the referee apologised to him. That caution was his only one he ever received in his 106-match England career.

Achievements

He won lots of awards for Manchester United and England

including:The footballer of the year TWICE,He won the world

cup in 1966.The same year he won the ballon d or!He even

won the BBC Sports personality award in the year 2008.In 2012

he won the Laureus lifetime achievement. It is won if someone

has made a significant contribution to the world of sport.
