School Games Mark Award

Ashmount Primary School has been awarded a Silver Games Mark for PE and Sport following an external validation from the Sport Industry Research Centre (SIRC) at Sheffield Hallam University which was contracted by Sport England to conduct an independent validation on 300 schools nationwide of which two were picked from Islington.

Here are some the snippets from the report.Ashmount Primary has been upgraded to a Silver Mark award on the basis of the evidence provided.

The School has also met a number of the Gold criteria and should consider going for a Gold award in the future.

Strengths-

The school has an excellent system in place for tracking participation in school games including competition registers for all level 2 activity and registers for all extra - curricular clubs.-

The School provides 2 hours PE within the curriculum which is Gold standard and the take up of extra - curricular activity is very high with an average of 247 visits per week, which easily exceeds Gold standard.-

The competition offer at Level 1 and 2 is of Gold standard. Within school, 11 sports were offered and pupils took part in 11 sports at level 2.-

The school has developed an excellent 'On your Marks' blog on the website which is in addition to weekly newsletters.

The PE Team are really proud of this achievement, and will look to gain Gold status in the near future.
