EYFS homework 25th September 2020,

Dear Parents & Carers,

Butterfly parents will have noticed that their child came home on Thursday with a homework zip folder. Inside is: 1 x levelled reading book; 1 x reading record for you to make a comment on the reading you did with your child and how they got on; 1 x fun book for you to read to your child; 1 x homework journal/scrapbook.

Please read the levelled reading book with your child for approximately 10 minutes each evening. At the moment, the children are sounding out each letter of a word then trying to blend it (put the sounds together to say the word), just 2 simple sentences can be a lot of work at this stage in their reading development so lots of praise is essential.

For the homework journal/scrapbook, please read the instructions glued onto the inside front cover. Use only 1 page per week. As well as being creative, you can also get the children to practise writing the letters they learnt in phonics this week - see the videos below. The homework journal in EYFS should be an enjoyable experience so make it as much fun as possible.

Please return the homework zip folder every Monday, thank you.

Kind regards,

Mr Morris, Katie & the EYFS team
