SUMMER BLOG 1 -

WELCOME YEAR 1

Hi Everybody

It was great to meet you all last week. Mrs Evans, Mrs Quadri and I are looking forward to welcoming you into Year 1 in September after our Summer holidays! Every couple of weeks I will be posting a blog with ideas for learning and for you to tell us what you have been up to during the holidays? We are looking forward to hearing all your holiday news.

SUMMER HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

As part of your transition from Foundation 2 into Year 1, I would like you to listen to the story of 'The Mixed Up Chameleon' by Eric Carle. Click on the link to listen.

Answer these questions:

What happened in the story?

Who was the main character?

What did the chameleon learn at the end

of the story?

PLEASE TURN OVER

Things to do:

Task 1 - Draw your own mixed up Animal and colour it in carefully.

Task 2 - Read the letter and colour in a 'Rainbow' chameleon.

Task 3 - Can you write a description of the Mixed Up Chameleon?

Task 4 - Count the different coloured chameleons. How many did you find?

Task 5 - Can you write the story of 'The Mixed Up Chameleon'. Use the chameleon page border to record your work.

Task 6 - In the story, the Chameleon learnt that it was important to be yourself. Record the 'Things I like about Me' on the 'Be Myself' worksheet.

It would be lovely if you could write me a postcard to tell me what you have been up to. You can choose to post it or bring it into school on our return in September!

You will find the worksheets to accompany these tasks on the Home Learning Page for Year 1 but you can easily do it without if you haven't got access to a printer.
