I think slowly the children are getting the message, that if you don't wake up too early then the adults won't be so grumpy in the morning, so today they had a bit of lie in until it was time to rise and shine!

Breakfast consisted of pancakes and variety of cereals. Following on from this was the morning’s activities which were shelter building and river study. The children who were doing the shelter building were asked to use wood and tarpaulin to build their own shelter which would withstand the elements. They proved to be very successful in what they built and also had the opportunity to make their own bread by the fire which were a mixture of very well done to rare!

After lunch the groups swapped over. River Study turned out to be a lot more fun than it sounded. Basically all the children were in the river, and conducting all sorts of studies, although being knee high up in water seemed the most enjoyable part for them.

Once back at the centre the children dried of and headed off to the centre shop to waste..sorry spend their money. When the shop had sold out of whoopee cushions and other random items it was dinner time. Having taken much careful consideration I have appointed Wilf as assistant dinner adjudicator. He has good chat at meal times, likes his food, and has a very good palate. Dinner was BBQ chicken and potatoes and veggie option being mixed bean casserole. Wilf felt the meal didn't match the standards of the curry so we marked it as a 7. The evening entertainment consisted of a camp fire and walk in the woods, which the children enjoyed, although being in complete darkness at one point brought about some interesting reactions! Then it was back to get showered and off to bed.

As I mentioned yesterday unfortunately we don't have the time and resources available to allow the children to correspond with you. What I can say is that, the week is full of exciting challenges and learning which will only help in their future, be it next week, next year or the years to come, and they are taking them on in their own individual ways.

They are doing things they have never done, challenging them mentally and physically, but from this they are learning much more about themselves, and by the end of the week will become more confident and hopefully realise their full potential.

Finally it seems my question of the day threw everyone whom answered. First off the steps weren't built in 1977 but made later to commemorate the event which took place in 1977. The key was in the year, and 77 steps were built. So today's QOTD is a multiple choice one.

In which year was the Margaret McMillan House opened by HRH The Duchess Of York. Was it:-

A - 1930

B - 1932

C - 1934 or

D - 1936.
