Dun Karm Psaila was born in 1871 at Żebbuġ Malta. He was the National Poet of Malta and has been called the "Bard of Malta " He became a priest at 23. Dun Karm Pails wrote an English-Maltese dictionary. His Poems had been translated into English, Spanish and French. He wrote the lyrics of the Maltese Anthem in 1922.
Dun Mikiel Xerri
Dun Mikiel Xerri was born in Ħaż-Żebbuġ on the 29th September 1737. He was born when St John Knights were ruling Malta. The French attacked St Johns knights and won. He was involved in an unsuccessful revolt to overthrow French rule under Napoleon Bonaparte for which he, together with other locals, was executed on 17th January 1799 at the age of 61. He was a Maltese Patriot.
Dun Gorg Preca
Dun Gog preca was born On the 12th February 1880 and died on the 26th July 1962. He a Catholic priest and the founder of the society of the Society of Christian Doctrine as well as a Third order of Carmelite. He was a popular figure among some groups. His activities raised suspicions of heresy from senior clergy. He was ordered to close down his teaching centres for a while they could be investigated. In 1975 he composed five new mysteries for the Rosary referred to as a "Mysteries of Light." He was canonized as a Saint in 2007.
