Light

What is it?

Light is something that comes out of light sources [a thing that produces its own light]. A light source can be man made e.g. a torch or it can be a natural light source e.g. the sun. Light cannot pass through opaque objects, some of it travels through translucent objects and can fully travel through transparent objects.

We see light either if it travels striaght through our eyes or if it reflects of an object. The light travels through the pupil [if there was too much light the iris would adjust so the pupil is smaller]. The light then passes through the lens which adjusts it to the retina. The light sensitive cells in the retina send a message to the optic nerve. The optic nerve then sends a message to the brain.

How we see

Reflectivity

Reflectivity is when light bounces off an object. All objects reflect light just on different levels because if they didn't we wouldn't be able to see them. The lighter, smoother and shinier things reflect more light than the darker, rougher and duller objects.
