Writing in the style of another author

In English, we have been writing stories in the style of Michael Morpurgo. They were all anout us finding an animal but we must keep it a secret. Then something bad happens and the secret is broken. What happens? This is some of mine:

I know I shouldn't have got so attached to him; he was just so cute-and World War 1 would have destroyed him completely. But then...

All I could hear was people screaming, bombs dropping and air raid sirens wailing. All I could see was the darkness if my room and fires burning. Petrified, I raced down to the shelter, thinking that Mum and Dad would be there too. I was wrong. In horror, I turned to save them but I was too late- all of a sudden there was a 'bang' and I was blown forward and hit my head badly. Despite of the pain I tottered towards the shelter where I absent-mindedly clambered in.

Then, my foot touched something silky. With blurry vision, I saw two droopy eyes staring up at me, terror written all over it's face. It was a foal. Snowy-white with dark, chestnut brown patches, he was shivering with fear and cold. Comforted that I was not quite alone, I pulled my body in and drifted into sleep. I tried to shift the sleep that glued my eyes together. When my eyes were finally open, I glanced down at the foal nuzzled up against me. Wary not to wake it, I opened the creaking, wooden door of the shelter but the blitz had not stopped. I climbed back down. The shelter, although mossy and muddy, was comfortable, and I soon fell asleep again.

Here is our success criteria for writing these stories (each of these is highlighted a different colour so I have done this in my work):

Have you read any Michael Morpurgo books? Have you written any of your own stories written in his style? If you have (or you do) perhaps put it on a blog?
