Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa in 1564. He become an astronomer , physicist and mathematician Galileo first discovered that the Moon had mountains just like Earth. He also discovered 4 of Jupiter's moons.

Using his telescope , Galileo made many observations of our Solar System. He came to believe that the idea that the Sun and other planets orbited around the Earth was not correct. While Galileo did not invent the first telescope , he did refine it to the point that he was able to see farther then any telescope of it's time. This allowed him to see into outer space as well asset the basis for the kinds of powerful telescope's that we use today.
