The Human Body

There are over 200 bones altogether in the human body and there are also many organs.

The Human Skeleton

The Human Skeleton is made up of lots of bones and if you didn't have any bones, you would not be able to move around. It is the framework of the body. Also, it produces red blood cells.

A baby's body is made up of around 270 bones altogether. This total would become 206 when you are a fully grown adult because your bones would have all formed into bigger bones already.

Main bones:

The Skull/ Cranium

The Spine/ backbone

The Rib-cage

The Thigh

The Femur...

The skull is where your brain is safely kept and protected. The spine is also known as the backbone and it keeps your back straight up. The rib-cage is made to protect your heart and lungs and keep them in position. All your bones have a reason to be there and if you didn't have at least your backbone, you would be flat on the ground and you won't be able to move if you didn't have the thigh or femur. The Thigh and the Femur are the leg bones which keep you standing up.

The Organs

Organs, like bones, also have jobs. Some have the job of cleaning and keeping us moving around and breathing. The brain is what makes sure you are moving, breathing and also makes sure you are alive The brain is usually referred to: The computer. That is because it keeps your thoughts and knowledge. The heart pumps red blood cells around your body which carries the oxygen in and carbon dioxide out.
