St. Catherine of Alexandria

St. Catherine was born in Alexandria in Egypt. She was nobel and very well educated. At

18, Catherine changed her religion and started to believe in Jesus Christ.

She used to pray a lot and once she experienced a vision of St. Mary and Jesus. She was baptised.

During that time, the Emperor ordered to kill Christians who did not give up their faith. She was horrified and confronted the Emperor. He wanted her to be his wife but she refused him as she preferred God. He got angry and because of this he sent her to prison.

She converted many people and this made the Emperor angrier. He wanted her to be killed by the wheel. As she touched the wheel it shattered by a miracle. Therefore the Emperor killed her by himself with a sword. Her body was taken to Mount Sinai in a monstery which is still there.
