The Art of Calligraphy

During the Shang Dynasty were invented many important things.

One of them is a system of writing called calligraphy.

Calligraphy was an art form and it still is.

In ancient China calligraphy was a means of communication, a way to express yourself.

Chinese writing characters go back more than 3,000 years.

Noble and royal children had to learn calligraphy. Even emperors practiced until they got good at writing calligraphy.Of course emperors could ask someone to write for them but the ability to write in calligraphy shows control and inner peace.

To write Chinese people used ink and brushes.

Chinese write in columns, from top to bottom and right to left. So you start writing from top right corner of the page.
