Microsociety Blog - Week 1

For the first week of microsociety we read a story called 'Justenuf'. The story is about a computer that sorted everything like food but then it broke down. Then we discussed what the captain should do. We thought that the people of Justenuf should fix the computer or that they just share like the children should have abit more and the adults have abit less. This book teaches us about scarcity. Scarcity is when you don't have enough of something.

We then played the shape game. This game has to do with scarcity. There were six teams and we had to make circles and squares with the diamiter of 10cm. Each groups had a least 1 counter which earns them 5 points. The circles earns you 10 points and the squares 5p. Group A and B had everything exept paper. Team C and D had a little of everything exept for a compass. Team E and F had lots of papers and a pencil but nothing else. So then we started trading. We had 20 minutes to have done as much as we can.

During the lessons we learnt about 1st, 2nd and 3rd world countrys. 1st world country are countrys that have lots of money, electricity etc. Examples: Astrailia, France, Canada, Japan, Greece etc. 2nd world countrys are countrys that have a little bit of everything like: Russia, Easten Europe, China, Poland etc. 3rd world countrys have a small amount of somethings. Examples: Cambodia, Chad, Guinea, Libera etc.
