Week 2

Micro-Society

Currency

According to Oxford's Dictionary and Thesaurus, currency is ' a system of money in general use in a country'. In week two of micro-society we played or participated in activities, that have something to do with money/ currency. Here are some things Scorpious did.

At first we read a story about a planet called Notenuf having their computer broken down. This meant all their food supplies were running out. All the people panicked and were in stress. At last their captain gave food, which were called nutri- bags, out to all people of Notenuf. Some people didn't get what they want, however others got exactly what they wanted. Most people got what they didn't like, this was because most families or people had got nutri-bags before others. Everyone was angry and fustrated as they had mostly nothing they wanted so they had to deal with what they had. One family's mother wanted them to be a healthy family but she had got unhealthy nutri-bags. As she was going to her home she saw a family with healthy foods, consequently, this made the mother decide to give the other mother her bag for something healthy. So she did. As she traded the captain overheard their conversation. The mother who wanted healthy food traded a nutri-bag and seeds to make sure the other family would take it because, ther was no point in trading something that is one price for something alse which is the same price. Then seeds had become Notenuf's currency.

After reading this story we played Monopoly. Playing Monopoly was very useful as without money you couldn't buy places or shops. Without these places you have no way to get money, this would mean you were bankrupt if you had to buy food or drinks, as you know to live you have to have food or water/ drinks. After this we knew that without money we can't live. If we had a longer time it could allow people to buy more places this would help them earn money and soon win. We also discussed the different strategies: my strategy was to either sell or buy, this was because if I bought enough things I would soon be able to earn money when people landed on my places.I also sold things because this would also earn me money this would be guaranteed whereas, if you bought something you weren't 100% guaranteed to get money.

Soon we brought in foreign money. This was to see the different aspects of money and have ideas when it comes to the time to make your own money. I brought money from France and India. Lots of people brought money and this allowed everyone to see what money had on the front and back of them. We then had a conversation about what was on the coin and the different pictures on them. This conversation included talking about: monuments, pictures, the value of each coin or note, the bank from where it was made and more details on the currency.

We also discussed the other currency used in other places.

We then designed our own money to represent our society, USS ( United States of Scorpiopia ).

Unluckily mine didn't win but soon we decided to mix all of the notes and make one amazing note which are called Scorpio's.
