Steve Irwin

Birth

Steve Irwin was born on the 22nd of February,1962 in Essendon, Australia.

Childhood

From a young age, Steve always loved

nature as his parents(Bob and Lyn Irwin)

owned a wildlife centre. Because of

this, at 6 years of age he was already

wrangling venomous snakes and for his

6th birthday, he received a 12 foot

scrub python. Although he loved animals,

and dealt with many dangerous ones,

the 1 animal that he was scared of

throughout his career was parrots

because he quoted that they always had

to bite him.

Adulthood

Steve had an extremely exciting life and in 1980, when he was 18, he volunteered for the Queensland crocodile relocation program and a year later, he took over his father's wildlife park when he retired. After a while running his wildlife centre, he became a lot more well known and word spread about his wildlife park. Steve's career really took of because of his well-known show the Crocodile Hunter(named after his famous nickname). He also built himself a famous catchphrase,"Crikey!" Later on in his career, he was on a fishing trip and he discovered an new

species of snapping turtle and named it Irwin's snapping turtle.

Death

Steve Irwin died on the 4th September

2006 and his death was a rather sad one.

On that very day, he had spotted a huge

stingray and he and his cameraman thought

that it would look really exciting on their show.

When Steve went behind the stingray for the

final shot, it lashed out stabbing him multiple times

in the heart and piercing one of his lungs. After he

had been dragged onto the boat, it was just too late

to save him.
