Skeletons of the Sea

The dry barren ground was like a graveyard of boats,

Whilst the abandoned lighthouse

Shone its light

Through the silent ground.

The empty horizon was like a haunted soul.

Then, as the once-floating bodies arose,

The birds stopped

And an eerie silence echoed

Round the nothingness

of the dry dustbowl.

Then, as the skeletons of the sea arose,

The clear blue sky split open

Showing a bright, white cloud.

And, for the first time in years,

A transparent blob of water fell

Onto the barren ground.
