Quadkids

Ashmount’s sporting stars ventured into a new competition this week as they took part in the Islington Primary Quadkids Tournament at Highbury Grove School. As you may have worked out from the title, the children competed individually in four different events which were the standing Long Jump, Mini Vortex Howler Throw, 60m sprint and 600m run. With 9 schools in attendance the competition was pretty tough, but the school came away finishing in a very credible fourth position.

There were some excellent individual performances, with Lucy recording the fastest time in the 600m for the girls, Rufus in the 60m sprint and Stephane in the Long Jump for the boys. The children’s scores for all four events were added up to finish with an individual score for the children and a cumulative one for the school.

The highest scoring performers were Stephane who finished 10th and Lucy 6th, excellent results with over 40 children in both boys and girls categories. With the over half of the squad in Yr 5 and Yr 4, those eligible will hopefully use the experience to build on from for next year’s competition, and look to further developments in their skills.

Pictures to follow.
