I was going to be the first woman to travel across the Atlantic ocean solo. I had planned on flying from Newfoundland, Canada all the way across the Atlantic ocean to Northern Ireland.

On the day of the flight, the weather was good, the sun was out and not a single cloud in the sky, perfect weather for flying.

Plans were going right and the equipment had all been checked and was ready for the flight.

I took off and things were going well, but when I was over the Atlantic ocean things started to go wrong. In the distance I could see dark clouds forming and before I knew it I was in the middle of a thunder storm. There were flashes of lightning all around me and the noise from the thunder was deafening, because of the storm my equipment wasn’t working very well and I feared that I wouldn’t make it. Visibility was poor, but I made it to Northern Ireland safely.

I was astounded that I made it and that I was the first woman to make it solo across the Atlantic ocean.
