A book review by Ella Patel

Judy Blume "Are you there God its me Margaret"

By Ella Patel

I highly recommend this book for children no younger than 10.

What the book is about:

This book is about four, 11 year old girls who want to impress a boy at their school. This school is new to a girl named Margaret she lived and grew up in New York but now she has to start a new life in the country side. Any way at their school there is this boy (read the book to find out his name!) and every girl really likes him, now Nancy ,the one who always likes to be in charge, starts this club which the four girls have to be in and they have to tell each other everything like first Periods and first kisses but there's a silly rule that you have to wear a bra. Margaret goes shopping for a bra and behind her is a boy and when she gets to the counter she gets told she won't fit into any of the bras the boy behind her laughs at her, now to make things even worse the boy is in her class at school!!!Most of the book is about how she wants to become religious because all her friends say you can't be nothing but in the end Margaret decides to be both Christian and Jewish (by the way if your thinking its a boring old book about ReligionycnaN a dits not really anything about Religion just the occasional paragraph or two) keeps calling Margaret every time she changes what she's going to wear. At the party they play a game wear all the boys have an odd number and all the girls have even numbers, the boys have to call an even number and however is that number has to go in the cupboard with them for at least 2 minutes. When the boy who Nancy really likes calls a number Nancy prays that he will choose her number, he calls the number 12 and that is Magaret! So they both go in the cupboard and he kisses her!!!!!!!!!

Why I like it:

I like this book because at times it can be quite funny at time. I'm warning you though at various points in the book I do wonder why all they are talking about is bras and boys. Nacy keeps going on about first kisses which is a bit awkward
