In preparation for Year 1, the children are being encouraged to try more work activities at the tables. They have been working very hard on maths topics, including counting, number bonds to 10, and continuing repeating patterns. The children have also done some brilliant writing, practising spelling tricky words, thinking of "cr" words, and learning about speech marks. They have made some lovely cricket collages, too.

Our caterpillars have hatched into beautiful butterflies! The children have been watching the painted lady butterflies with great interest, pointing out what they noticed.

They also did a great job doing observational drawings of the cocoons and butterflies, as well as doing role play re-enactments of our cricket story in groups.

On Thursday, all 5 butterflies had hatched, so we released them outside, which was very enjoyable for the children! They have also done several other fun activities.
