St.David's Day

On the 1st of march it was St.David's Day. In school we had to dress up in red and wear a leek for the boys and daffodils for the girls as these are colours and items associated with Wales and St.David Day.

To celebrate St.David's Day we had a quiz that was about famous welsh people and facts about Wales. The quiz was between the teachers and the pupils and we were victorious.

As the quiz was going on we all had an opportunity to try some traditional welsh food's.  The foods were welsh cakes, faggots, laver bread, cheese and lots more.  My favourite food was the white chocolate and the cheese.

St.David is our patron saint because he founded a celtic monastic community at glyn rhosyn where St.Daivd's cathedral stands today. This founation became an important chistian shrine and the most important centre in Wales. We celebrate St.David's Day on the 1st of march because this is the day that he is believed to have died.
