Agatha Barbara



She was Miss Agatha Barbara. She was the president of Malta in between 1982 and 1987.

She was born in Żabbar on 11th of March, 1923.

Ms Agatha Barbara started her career as a school teacher. During the second world war in 1946 she started to take an active interest in politics and joined the Maltese Labour Party.

Ms Barbara was amongst the foremost in the fight for the Independence of Malta.

She was a brilliant woman who stood up for her country.
