The Challenge

As it is Chinese New Year this weekend we ask that you talk with your child about where China is in the world as well as Chinese traditions. For example, how a tea ceremony is performed or how chopsticks are used to eat food. Please let us know which Chinese tradition your child learned about, either by sending in a photo via the school office email:

office@cheswick-green.solihull.sch.uk

or a picture that your child has drawn (via their wallet!)

Foundation 2 children also have further enrichment activities in their home study books.

The Learning Theme

Next week our learning theme is the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.

We will be making and eating porridge, and hopefully it will be just right! We will be chatting about what we can eat for breakfast and what is a healthy choice. In our Foundation 1 maths session, we will look at things we can use to help us measure how tall or short objects are. The children will also be choosing from a range of shapes to print with to create a picture of Goldilocks. In Foundation 2 we will be writing ‘Wanted!’ posters in a search for Goldilocks as well as an apology letter to the Bears. The children will have opportunities to play lots of number games and we will be subtracting using the Goldilocks theme to help us do this.

A Note

Our Trip to ‘Build a Bear’ and ‘Solihull Library’ will take place on Tuesday 14 th March. More information to follow…

We will need parent volunteers to support the trip. If you are interested please speak to a member of the Foundation staff and we will confirm as soon as possible.
