BATTLE OF BRITAIN

One of the most significant battles in World War II was The Battle of Britain. The Battle of Britain began on July 10th, 1939 and lasted until 1945. Therefore, it lasted 6 years.

Germany started bombing Great Britain in the air during this battle. The battle was fought by the German air force (the Luftwaffe) and the Royal Air Force of Great Britain (RAF).


Germany wanted to invade Great Britain, but first they needed to destroy Great Britain's Royal Air Force. The Battle of Britain was when Germany bombed Great Britain in order to try and destroy their air force and prepare for the battle.

The RAF had around 1,960 aircrafts.

This battle was named the Battle of Britain following a speech made by Winston Churchill, who was the prime minister of Britain, named the battle the Battle of Britain.

Hitler wrote a book named

Mein Kampf which is in German but in English, it would be named as 'my struggle'.
