SAFESIDE TIPS:

Lily M

FIRE:

Rub the back of your hand against the door and handle.

If it is hot, the fire is big.

Go to a window and shout ''FIRE'' and not ''HELP'' as people could think you are joking.

Call 999 (The Police)

Try and get out as quickly as possible.

A fire can start in 30 seconds and a whole room could be up in flames in 3 minutes.

If you leave a charger on, on a bed or have too many things plugged in at once, it could cause a fire.

STRANGERS:

If you are walking down an alleyway and it is dark, DO NOT speak to anyone.

If you see anyone in an alleyway, turn the other way, or ignore tem and run past them.

If you find syringes on the floor, DO NOT touch them or go near them.

If you see a dog alone, leave it, cross your hands around your chest and stay still.

If you run from a dog, they will think you are playing a game and will chase you.

On a bus, if there is a stranger, and other seats are free, sit on a different seat. If you are on a double-decker bus, they reccommend to sit on the bottom as you are closer to the exit and the driver. If you are upstairs, sit by the stairs so you could run.

NUMBERS:

999 is the Police, Ambulance and Fire Brigade.

101 is if it's not an emergency.

112 is the national number if you don't know the number.

The first thing you tell the operater is where you are. If your phone dies, they can come as they know where you are. If you dont know where you are, give them landmarks ( e.g shops).

Be Safe. Be careful.
