What an evening finale we had to cap off the week. Barn social, loosely translated into a disco which also has pool table and table tennis tables. More on this later.

Today was the last full day of activities, and there was lots going on for all of the children. Breakfast was bacon and hash browns or veggie sausages and cereals.. Morning started off with a range of sessions. A couple of groups headed off for the river study, whilst mine took part in Thunder Stack! Children stacked up a load of crates and tried to balance on the crates until they were stacked ten high, then knocked off whilst attached to a harness.

From here we moved onto one of my favourites, climbing. I love this activity as It really tests the children mentally and physically. Any progress they make up the wall is an achievement, so to see them make the steps they do is brilliant. Some fly up to the top, some make it there steadily, whilst some take it in small steps. After lunch, tyre course and low ropes were on the menu. Again based around team building and teamwork, the children were set challenges which saw them climb courses and navigate around a tyre course carrying a plank to help them get from one set of tyres to another. Other groups went on the local park walk and bumble. A bit of free time, playing football, cricket, dancing and generally chilling preceded dinner, the last supper! The final offering was sausage casserole or veggie pasta bake. Wilf felt it wasn't as good as the other meals especially the lamb curry and the dessert of waffles and syrup lacked something I couldn't put my finger on. Anyway, so after a chat with my right hand man we went for a 6.5/10.

So onto the barn social and what a humdinger of an affair. Once the music system had been cranked up the tunes were pumping! The girls and boys who were both dressed for the occasion and made such a huge effort to the look the part really made it a vibrany and lively party. We had Zayd and Ash doing the worm but the highlight was most definitely Becca with her dance moves. She got the party going big time with her assortment of shapes, so parents if you want someone to get your party livened up I’d most certainly invite her!

I'm sure if we allowed the party to go on till midnight the children would have been up for that, but we called it a day at 9pm and brought them back to their rooms, to settle in and get a goodnight sleep.

So that's it folks, I'm sure you can't wait to pick up your lovely children, but make sure you have enough washing powder as there will be a big wash going on this weekend I reckon, which may also include some odds socks, and clothes you never even packed! It's been an eventful & memorable week, so much has happened, and it's been so enjoyable and rewarding for all of us to share it with your children.

Highlights for me have included watching the boys act like petrified 5 year olds and running away screaming when a crane fly or wasp has entered their room, children taking on the climbing wall with no fear, to the girls having such a great time on the dance floor. You've also played your part so thanks for your quiz answers, yesterday's was D, so house points will be awarded next week to all those with correct answers. We will aim to to return between 2.30-3pm but please check in with Paula.

Also their is a year 6 residential assembly next Tuesday (26th), where the children will fill you with highlights from their trip through a mixture of words and photos and who knows if your lucky Becca may dance again, I’m working on her!

Thank you for all your messages they really make a difference, see you all tomorrow and good night for the final time!
