CHESWICK GREEN PRIMARY SCHOOL GOVERNOR BLOG

The Governors have been very busy this term, each of the committees have now met, and last night we held our first full board meeting of the 2017/18 school year.

At the full board, all of the committees reported on their activity, Governors updated the board on training that they had attended, and recieved a report from the Head Teacher.

Committee Reports:

People and Buildings comittee

The PB committee completed thefollowing this term:

· Reviewed the keypriorities of the SIP and targets for 2017-18, noting issues that particularly related to our committee remit.

· Reviewed and accepted alterations to our remit

· Reviewed any outstanding actions from the safety check conducted in July

· Discussed and were updated on the building extension.

· Monitored the arrangements for lettings & security.

· Monitored energy usage to identify areas where savings might be made.

· Received a staffing update, including staff from Green Trees

· Reviewed the links with Extended Services and delegated the day-to-day contact to a committee member

· Performance Management Policy –discussed implementation for all staff. Monitored compliance with the Teacher Appraisal Policy and the Support Staff Appraisal Policy.

· Monitored the annual pay statement of salary from the LA

Resources Committee

The committee reviewed the school revenue account 2017/18 current status and the five-year forecast. The Committee agreed that, because of significant uncertainties associated with the expansion of the school and the impact of the implementation of the National Funding Formula, no action – other than being prudent - was required at this time.

The committee also reviewed the extended services revenue account for 2017/18 and noted that despite the cost of the school (unexpectedly) having to employ another qualified teacher, the account balance was encouraging.

The Committee reviewed the HR services provision and ratified the decision made by the Strategy Committee to buy-in both the Payroll and HR Service packages offered by the Local Authority.
