Life Cycles

A life cycle is a series of changes that happens to all living things. The life cycle will then repeat over and over again. We humans have our own life cycle, our life cycle can take over 50 years, as a human we can live up to 100 years old.

A Caterpillars Life Cycle:

First, the caterpillar hatches from its egg which is called a larva. Secondly, the caterpillar eats until its third stage of metamorphosis, when the caterpillar cocoons itself. Finally the butterfly emerges from the cocoon.

The Human Life Cycle:

Firstly, the adult male fertilises the female egg and the baby human grows inside the mothers belly, after nine months the baby will then be born. After a few months to 1 year the baby becomes a child and learns to walk and talk. The child then continues to grow over his or her years. Next, the child will go through a stage called puberty which is a change for a teenager that develops and changes to become an adult. Finally the adult can now have a baby of its own.

The Frog Life Cycle:

A frog hatches from an egg to begin it's life. When it hatches from an egg it is a tadpole, the tadpole then grows legs and loses its tale and grows a tongue. Then the metamorphosis is complete and the frog lays eggs.

The Penguin Life Cycle:

The first stage of the penguin life cycle is the egg, the mother penguin will lay this egg. Secondly, one of the parent penguins will put the egg underneath it to keep the egg warm this is called incubating. When the incubation is complete the egg will hatch and become a chick. The chick will grow soft fluffy feathers. It can take up to 13 months for a penguin to grow it's adult black and white waterproof feathers. They learn to hunt on their own and then find mate. (They keep the same mate for the rest of their lives).
