My Karate Journey So Far

By Hovan Sarkissian 4J

I have been doing Karate out of school for 3 years and it has become one of my favourite hobbies. I enjoyed pretend-fighting since I was 3, and I was super excited when I heard I was going to start Karate lessons.  My Sensei is a very good teacher and makes her classes enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their ability. I enjoy her lessons very much and, although we are all in lockdown, we still have them weekly on ‘Zoom’. I like it as there aren’t as many distractions and I can still follow her lead.

In these few years of training, I have earned a brown belt, which is the one before black. I have competed in many mini-tournaments and this year I came third in a competition. I have learnt lots of katas; my favourite is called Sanseru. It has been very fun learning with my teacher and doing  Karate in general. I cannot wait to get back to my normal classes and gain more tags for my belt.
