Today was a very exciting day for Zhang Heng Reception class as we received a very delicate package. Just before lunch time a man from 'The Happy Chick Company' delivered an incubator, two brooder boxes and fifteen eggs! The eggs have provided the children an endless supply of educational opportunities; talking about how to take good care of them, lots of counting (particularly when some of the eggs were hatching) and even writing about their observations of the chicks for this blog.

The children have been showing care and consideration for the eggs today. We talked about the equipment the eggs needed and the children made sure that the incubator remained a steady temperature of 37ºC.

‘Yesterday we got an incubator for the eggs. The incubator is to keep the eggs warm. In the incubator there is a thermometer. The thermometer helps us to know how hot or cold it is.’ (Omari, Reception)

Just before home time something incredibly exciting happened! The first egg began to hatch.
