Fitness Week

Tuesday

For the first day of Fitness Week our class took a walk to Beverley Park. We were split into groups so that we could do four different activities. All of them (except the last one which we weren't able to do) were quite fun. We played a game using a net, a ball and our hands, (it also included levels known as the Micky Mouse League and other names that I couldn't remember) a running game including many tennis balls, some cones and two bats and a game which was like dodgeball except that it included four shirts that we needed to pick up. Unfortunately because of the other man who had insisted on doing cricket with a group for twice the amount of time one session is supposed to take we had to miss cricket. I didn't mind much but the boys who were in my group (especially those who loved cricket) were quite annoyed and shouted, "Thanks a lot Andrew!" as we walked past (they got told off).

Wednesday

For the second day we did something which I enjoyed quite a lot. We walked to a tennis court (which was a bit further away than Beverley Park) and played tennis for quite a long period.

I spent most of the time by bouncing a ball on the racket and collecting balls to use but some of my friends (who I won't name since they are very conscious about their privacy) played matches against my other friend (who will also remain nameless). However it wasn't a proper match and they kept on missing the balls (partially why I spent a lot of time collecting balls)

Thursday

For Thursday we did inflatables and a obstacle course. The inflatable was made up by a set of inflatable stairs and an inflatable slide. It was very fun and some people (especially those boys who did things without a second thought) jumped down the slide and slid with alarming speed (they weren't really that fast). The teachers also took turns and were elated at the thought of pretending to be a child again. After that we went to try the obstacle course but unfortunately it deflated. As you can expect we were quite bored until we spotted our Year Four student teacher Mr Al Warith tumbling around in a zorbee while knocking down several innocent children. Of course we cheered for him shouting, "AL WARITH! AL WARITH!". I could tell he enjoyed it but he soon fell down after being viciously attacked by a group of Year Four children.

Friday

For Friday (which was also sports day) we did a numerous amount of sports. For example after we were split into Group One and Group Two (I was in Group One) we did races, golf and spoon, hurdles and discus. I thoroughly enjoyed the golf and spoon race although Yellow House clearly took the lead. However Group Two suffered from many injuries. Kavishan unfortunately was hit on the head by a 1.25kg discus which was thrown by Delan (he later claimed that he had released the object too early). He was sent home after being checked by a member of staff. Secondly Nethiran while doing the hurdle race tripped over the hurdle and landed brutally on the ground. Fortunately he was not sent home but had to miss the rest of Sports Day. Overall Sports Day was great if not tiring and exhausting.
